ORCA Duals
In 2002, California Hall of Fame wrestling coach Bert VanDuzer launched the ORCA Dual with the vision of bringing together the top senior wrestlers from California and Oregon to compete for bragging rights. After the first nine years, Washington was invited to join the competition. The event rotated between Southern Oregon University and Simpson University. In 2019, Bert retired after decades of dedicated service to the sport of wrestling. Following a five-year hiatus, the Gut Check team is proud to carry on this great tradition of showcasing West Coast wrestling champions—now with the addition of Idaho. Locations will rotate annually between the four states, and the duals will now include the top junior and senior boys and girls from each state. The duals will follow NFHS regulations.
